The calmest switch is straight after a closed VAT period or at the start of a financial year. You set up the opening balance, enter the outstanding items, and start with an administration that balances from day one. Keep your old package alongside for as long as you like.

You can export your entire administration at any time in JSON and in XAF, including after you cancel. We hold you nowhere with a format only we can read. That is not a favour, it is the only honest way to ask you to switch.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a switch take?

For a sole trader it is usually an evening: set up the administration, run the import, check the outstanding items. With several administrations or a lot of history, allow half a day, ideally just after a closed period.

Do I have to cancel my old package straight away?

No, and we advise against it. Leave your old environment in place until you have filed a return from Readybooks and compared the figures.

What if my package is not listed?

Practically every package exports to CSV. You map the columns yourself for customers, invoices and entries. If you get stuck, email us what you have and we will look at the file with you.

Will my numbering continue?

Yes. Per document type you set the number your sequence continues from, so your invoices follow on from what you already sent in your old package.
