Tax

The quarter is over. The summary is already there.

Readybooks keeps track during the year of which rate belongs to which line and what it was calculated on. At the end of the period you work out the return, check it line by line, and file it yourself.

The cases you normally have to look up.

Sell to a business in another EU country and Readybooks reverse-charges the VAT and puts the line on the EC sales list. Sell outside the EU and it is an export. Fall under the small business scheme and you charge no VAT, with the right wording on the document. You do not need to know the rule; you only need to have filled in your customer properly.

  • Reverse charge within the EU
  • EC sales list with VAT numbers per customer
  • Export outside the EU
  • Small business scheme with the right wording

Before you file, you check.

The summary shows per box which amount is in it and which documents make up that amount. You click through to the underlying invoices, see immediately what is wrong, and fix it before you file rather than after.

Filing is yours to do.

Readybooks works out your return and exports the summary, but does not send it to the tax office on your behalf. A direct connection needs certification and a government certificate. You copy the amounts across or upload the file in the tax office portal.

Frequently asked questions

Does Readybooks file my return for me?

Readybooks calculates the return and exports the summary. Filing is yours to do. A direct connection needs certification and a government certificate, and we deliberately do not have those.

What if I am liable for tax in more than one country?

You create a separate administration per country. Each one has its own tax rules, currency and number sequences, and they stay separate. In your overview you see them side by side.

Can I post a correction to an earlier period?

Yes. You post the correction in the current period with a reference to the period it belongs to, so your return is right without reopening a closed period.

Do you support the small business scheme?

Yes. You switch the scheme on per administration with a start date. From that moment you charge no VAT and the right wording appears on your invoices.
